It gives me immense pleasure in reaching out to you through this modern communication platform - the ‘Nagaralu Website’. Heartfelt congratulations to all those making this a possibility. I wish this would reduce the distances and help us to serve more of the needy and the poor.
Our bondage as brothers, sisters and relatives though has been natural, but the wisdom of solidarity and the process of consolidation had begun with the formation of ‘NAGARALU ASSOCIATION’ in 1980. As members of the Community, let us place our profound respect to our Founders and Elders, for their love, guidance, and services.
In 31 years of our journey, the Association has been striving for the general goodness of the society and the well being of the Community. I humbly submit that with all our thoughts and acts we are able to lead the torch ‘spirit of togetherness’. Let us celebrate on our historic achievement of our long standing demand, inclusion of our Community in the list of Backward Communities. Now our community physical horizon has widened, we are immediate brothers and sisters of all BC communities. Should we still be shy of being the tiny community? I feel ‘not’. We are now in the large group of 5 crore BC community. The reservations in the educational opportunities along with fee waiver would go a long way in helping our poor brethren in continuing their educational pursuits thus in advancing the social order.
Looking ahead into the future, we continue to challenge our traditional challenges – general backwardness in education, employment, business and overall economic development. Close to 75 per cent are illiterate and more than 80 per cent are leading subsistence economic living wherein they just meet their basic living needs. On the other hand it is proud to note we have amazing talent in every discipline – art, education, social work, politics, medicine. With little general support, many of our brethren have attained highest professional and societal positions through sheer their individual talents and hard work. First film theatre in Andhra Pradesh was built by our People – Pothina Srinivasa Rao Family. We have great names we have selflessly strived for our good – Marupilla Chitti garu, Tammina Potha Raju garu, Syed Appala Swamy and many others. Many of our children, brothers and sisters are studying and doing jobs overseas.
Need more success stories rather on mass scale. Lack of required education is the major stumbling block in realizing this Goal. At this hour we need – more togetherness and more mutual help. Let each able family/person can help/adopt at least one disadvantageous child/person in pursing his/her education.
